This Week Recap

I posted about our fabulous wedding and because I wasn’t feeling well I didn’t get to post about our honeymoon to Puerto Rico this week. I will, I promise. Just not today.

Anyway, this week I wanted to talk about taking a break and the benefit from taking a break.I stated before I didn’t want to go on a honeymoon because we didn’t want to spend the money. Just read this post here to catch up on that.

I wanted to tell you that for once in a pretty long time it felt to pretty freaking good to just relax and enjoy our days. The 6 days we were in Puerto Rico, we enjoyed each other’s company. We talked about our future and what we needed to concentrate on next. We were in wedding planning mode for the majority of this year and now that this is done and over with we needed to switch gear and focus.

Best part of our honeymoon, no kids! Though I missed them terribly, we needed time for ourselves to focus on this new chapter of our lives.

I have to say that taking a break from blogging, worrying about wedding, kids, coupons, money for six days rejuvenated me to the point where I can now focus on what’s important to us right now.

A few thing I decided I wanted to concentrate when I came back were the following:

  • Spending time learning more about the world of blogging.
  • Reading about investments. This is something we have been talking about all year and done nothing.
  • Step out of my comfort zone and doing what it takes to earn some extra cash. I have admitted that my own insecurities are my biggest downfall.

Though I have been doing OK, I could do better.

This honeymoon was exactly what we needed for my husband and I. We enjoyed our time together, we planned, communicated, and decided what route we want to go.

If you ever feel overwhelmed simply take a break. Doesn’t have to be a vacation or a honeymoon. 😉 Just a break from whatever situation is causing you stress or you are not handling well. When finances are just the only thing you can think of, take a break. Couponing is driving you nuts, take a break.

Look back and reassess your strategy and talk about it with someone. Attacking it from a different angle might be what you need. Just please never give up. I haven’t quit when it comes to this challenge. 😉 Nor did I quit when we worked on our finances.

The lesson I want you to take from this pot today is that even if you feel like you are or you are struggling with something (financially, goals, etc), taking a break might be the best thing to do. During this break take the time to relax, analyze, and plan a strategy. That being financial, work, or this challenge. You will be surprised how your mind and view changes about it! A different angle of attacking your finances will help you achieve it.

If you gave up on this challenge because you felt like it wasn’t working or you were struggling, come back. How would you know it wouldn’t have worked if you didn’t give it a try?

I hope this helps you understand that when attacking you debt is hard and challenging. And very stressful and tiring. A break from the situation is understandable and sometimes requires.

So there you have my 52 Week Saving Challenge pep talk for the week. Have you ever been so frustrated on a goal, work, blog, and by taking a much needed break helped you attain it?
